A Mississippi man is facing multiple charges after allegedly attempting to steal a delivery order from a customer who turned out to be a former law enforcement officer. TEREL TYWAN HAMPTON, 30, of Jackson, Mississippi, was apprehended by Madison Police following an investigation into the incident.
The customer, former Madison County Deputy BRAD SULLIVAN, who was left partially paralyzed after being shot twice in the head during a 2019 chase with a kidnapping suspect, reported the theft on Monday. According to WLBT, a Jackson-based NBC affiliate, Sullivan stated that his delivery driver, who identified himself as DENNIS K. on the app, denied having his order and refused to deliver it.
Management at the Academy Sports store, where Sullivan had placed the order, confirmed that Dennis had indeed picked up the items. However, shortly after pickup, the order was marked as canceled, despite Sullivan confirming he did not cancel it himself.
Madison Police investigated the matter with the store’s cooperation and confirmed that HAMPTON had left the store with Sullivan’s merchandise. Police later stopped Hampton in his 2016 Chevrolet Impala and arrested him. Inside the vehicle, officers found Sullivan’s order—two shirts, two pairs of shoes, and a pair of shorts—intended for his son. Additionally, marijuana and a firearm were discovered in Hampton’s car.
HAMPTON was charged with petit larceny, improper equipment, and possession of marijuana while in possession of a firearm. He is currently in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
Both former Deputy SULLIVAN and the Madison Police Department declined to provide additional comments when contacted by Fox News Digital.
