North Carolina authorities have announced the arrest of a third suspect in connection with the kidnapping of a mother and her toddler daughter earlier this week. The incident, which occurred in Garner, has drawn significant attention from law enforcement agencies.
Earlier this week, PAOLA DURAN DURAN, 25, and MIGUEL ANGEL DURAN DURAN, 23, both illegal immigrants, were charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping and one count of second-degree kidnapping. A manhunt was launched for a third suspect, ELEODORO ‘LEO’ ESTRADA-HERNANDEZ, who was apprehended by FBI Special Agents in Knightdale on Friday.
ELEODORO ‘LEO’ ESTRADA-HERNANDEZ faces charges including two counts of first-degree kidnapping, one count of second-degree kidnapping, one count of felony firearm possession, and two counts of assault by pointing a firearm. The kidnapping reportedly occurred after the suspects demanded $1 million from the adult female victim’s husband. When he refused, they restrained him with duct tape and abducted his wife and their 11-month-old daughter, fleeing in a black Nissan.
The victims were safely recovered on Tuesday after a Wake Forest resident reported that a woman with a baby had come to her home seeking help. The Garner Police Department, in collaboration with multiple state, local, and federal agencies, worked tirelessly to locate and apprehend the suspects.
ICE detainers have been lodged against PAOLA DURAN DURAN and MIGUEL ANGEL DURAN DURAN, while ELEODORO ‘LEO’ ESTRADA-HERNANDEZ‘s immigration status remains unknown. The suspects are currently being held in the Wake County Detention Center.
This case highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing serious criminal activities. The swift action by law enforcement ensured the safe recovery of the victims and the apprehension of the suspects.
