In a dramatic rescue operation on Saturday evening, all 32 passengers aboard a multimillion-dollar luxury yacht were safely rescued after the vessel began sinking off the coast of Miami Beach. The yacht, a 63-foot Tecnomar for Lamborghini valued at $4 million, started taking on water near Flagler Monument Island, a man-made island in Miami’s Biscayne Bay.

Multiple agencies, including the U.S. COAST GUARD, responded swiftly to the scene to assist the stranded passengers. According to a spokesperson for the MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT, none of the 32 individuals suffered injuries, and all were evaluated by the MIAMI BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT.

The incident occurred despite the Tecnomar for Lamborghini’s maximum capacity of 16 passengers, as stated on the Lamborghini Miami website. The U.S. Coast Guard Southeast confirmed in a social media post that commercial salvage efforts are underway to recover the vessel, which does not pose a hazard to navigation. The Coast Guard also extended gratitude to Good Samaritan boat operators who provided immediate assistance.

The limited-edition yacht, a collaboration between LAMBORGHINI and THE ITALIAN SEA GROUP, weighs 24 tons and boasts a top speed of 63 knots (approximately 72 mph). Inspired by Lamborghini’s super sports cars, the Tecnomar for Lamborghini represents a pinnacle of maritime luxury.

This incident unfolded during the highly anticipated Formula One Miami Grand Prix, held from May 2 to May 4 at the Miami International Autodrome. The 2024 event drew over 275,000 spectators, highlighting Miami’s status as a hub for high-profile sporting and luxury events.

The FLORIDA FISH AND WILDLIFE CONSERVATION COMMISSION has launched an investigation into the incident. Requests for comment from the MIAMI-DADE FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT and LAMBORGHINI remain unanswered at the time of reporting.
