Illinois State University (ISU) was thrust into chaos on Sunday evening as campus police issued an emergency alert following reports of a shooter discharging a firearm near or on campus. The incident occurred in the vicinity of the Bone Student Center on West Locust Street in Normal, Illinois.
According to authorities, one victim was reported, though their condition remains unclear at this time. The suspect, described as a slender Black male, approximately 5’10” with a Black Afro hairstyle and wearing all-black clothing, was last seen running south from the intersection of University and College Streets. Officials warned that the individual may be armed and dangerous, posing an immediate threat.
ISU POLICE have launched a manhunt for the suspect and are urging the public to avoid the areas surrounding University and Locust Streets, as well as the Bone Student Center, which remains closed. No shelter-in-place order has been issued for the campus, but residents are advised to exercise extreme caution.
